The Bangladesh Agricultural Extension Society (BAES) is a forum of professionals working in teaching, research or practice of extension work. It is a non-profit and professional organization. The society was established in 1978.
The major aims and objectives of the society are to promote development of agricultural extension profession, its research and practice through:
(i) upholding the educational needs of the farming community for increased productivity and better living;
(ii) helping government formulate and adopt policies and programmes pertaining to development of extension profession;
(iii) counseling government for effective operation of agricultural extension service as its educational aims for agricultural development;
(iv) holding seminars, conferences, workshops and such other activities related to agricultural extension;
(v) publishing journals and other related on pertinent issues of extension education;
(vi) upholding the dignity, status and honour of the agricultural extension profession and its members;
(vii) providing recognition to the distinguished professionals by offering awards, titles, symbols, certificates; and
(viii) maintaining liaison with agricultural extension and related organizations within and outside the country.
